The establishment of national libraries is linked to the formation of modern European
librarianship in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. By emphasizing the importance
of knowledge as a factor of progress and advocating for the promotion of learning, there was
a call for the need to create a new type of institution dedicated to the development of knowledge
